A community rooted in Scripture, devoted to worship, and committed to serving Free State.
Living Church of God SA is a registered non-profit religious organisation bringing biblical teaching, compassionate outreach and genuine fellowship to Harrismith and the surrounding communities of the Free State.
Called to worship. Called to serve.
Living Church of God SA exists to proclaim the truths of the Bible in their fullness, to build a congregation that reflects the character of God in daily life, and to extend practical love to the people of Harrismith and beyond. We are a registered non-profit organisation, governed with transparency and accountable stewardship, and every programme we run is rooted in a single conviction: that faith without works of compassion is incomplete.
Since our establishment, we have grown from a small gathering of believers into an active congregation with a structured programme of worship, biblical education, and community upliftment. We remain deliberately community-sized — large enough to sustain meaningful ministries, small enough that every member and every visitor is known by name.
Three commitments that shape everything we do
Scripture-Centred Worship
Every message, every study, and every service is anchored in the Bible as the inspired, authoritative Word of God — taught plainly, without compromise, and applied to everyday life.
Compassionate Community
We believe genuine faith shows itself in action. Our outreach ministries serve families, the elderly, the youth and the vulnerable across Harrismith and the wider Free State region.
Hope in God's Kingdom
We look forward with confidence to the return of Jesus Christ and the establishment of God's Kingdom on earth — a hope that gives purpose and perspective to all we do today.
"He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8

Our story, our mission, and the people who carry it forward.
A registered South African non-profit organisation devoted to biblical worship and community service in Harrismith and the Free State.
Built on faith, grown through service
Living Church of God SA was formally established and registered as a non-profit religious organisation in 2008, born out of a conviction that Harrismith and the wider Free State needed a congregation dedicated to teaching the whole Bible and living it out through tangible acts of service.
What began as a small fellowship meeting for Sabbath worship has grown into a structured, multi-ministry organisation. Over the years we have expanded our reach from a single weekly service into a full calendar of worship, biblical education, family programmes, and community relief work. Our growth has never been about numbers alone — it has been about deepening the impact of every ministry we run and ensuring that no one within our reach goes without spiritual or practical support.
Today, Living Church of God SA operates under formal governance structures required of a registered non-profit, with clear financial accountability, an appointed Director, and documented policies guiding every ministry and outreach programme we undertake.
Why we exist
Our Mission — To proclaim the Gospel of the Kingdom of God as taught in the Holy Scriptures, to build a congregation grounded in biblical truth, and to serve the practical needs of our community with compassion, integrity and consistency.
Our Vision — A Free State community where families are strengthened by biblical values, where the vulnerable are cared for regardless of background, and where the hope of God's coming Kingdom is clearly and faithfully proclaimed to every generation.
Our Purpose as an NPO — Living Church of God SA is classified under religious, grantmaking, civic and similar organisations, reflecting our dual calling: to be a place of worship and religious instruction, and to function as a civic-minded organisation that channels resources, time and volunteer effort into meeting real community needs.

The principles that guide our congregation
Biblical Integrity
We hold the Bible as our final authority in doctrine and practice, teaching it faithfully and without alteration.
Servant Leadership
Leadership within our organisation is measured by service, humility and accountability, not status.
Transparent Stewardship
As a registered non-profit, we manage every donation and resource with diligence, honesty and clear reporting.
What we teach, and why it matters.
Our Statement of Faith reflects a straightforward commitment to the Bible as the complete and final Word of God.
The doctrines of Living Church of God SA are drawn directly from Scripture. We do not add to or subtract from what the Bible teaches, and we encourage every member and visitor to test everything we teach against the Bible itself. Below is a summary of the core beliefs that shape our worship, our teaching, and our way of life.
-
The Authority of Scripture
We believe the Bible, in its entirety, is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and the final authority for faith, doctrine and daily living. Every teaching in our congregation is measured against Scripture.
-
The Godhead
We believe in one true God, the Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ, working through the Holy Spirit, the power and presence of God active in creation, in Scripture, and in the lives of believers.
-
Salvation Through Grace
We believe salvation is a gift of God's grace, made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, received through genuine repentance and faith, and evidenced by a transformed life.
-
The Sabbath
We observe the seventh-day Sabbath, from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset, as a weekly time set apart for rest, worship and fellowship, following the pattern established at creation and affirmed throughout Scripture.
-
God's Annual Holy Days
We observe the biblical annual Holy Days outlined in Leviticus 23, understanding them as a prophetic framework that pictures God's plan of salvation for humanity across history.
-
The Kingdom of God
We believe the central message of the Gospel is the coming Kingdom of God — a literal, future government to be established on earth at the return of Jesus Christ.
-
The Return of Jesus Christ
We believe in the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ to the earth, an event that will bring justice, healing and the restoration of God's rule among all nations.
-
Baptism & New Life
We practise baptism by full immersion as an outward expression of repentance, faith and a believer's commitment to a new life following the example and teachings of Jesus Christ.
-
Christian Living & Stewardship
We believe biblical faith should be visible in daily conduct — in honesty, generosity, tithing, care for family, and love toward neighbour and stranger alike.
-
The Great Commission
We believe every believer shares in the responsibility to make the Gospel of the Kingdom known, through teaching, example, and acts of service to the wider community.
Faith made visible through service.
Our ministries carry our mission into homes, schools and streets across Harrismith and the Free State.
As a registered civic and religious non-profit organisation, Living Church of God SA channels the time, skills and resources of our congregation into structured ministries that meet real needs. Each ministry below is led by trained volunteers and coordinated under the oversight of our Director to ensure consistency, accountability and impact.
Community Feeding & Relief Programme
Our largest outreach initiative provides regular meal parcels and hot meals to food-insecure families in Harrismith, in partnership with local community leaders. Volunteers coordinate collection, preparation and distribution on a scheduled basis, prioritising households with children, the elderly, and the chronically ill.
Family & Marriage Ministry
Marriage enrichment sessions, parenting workshops and pastoral counselling designed to strengthen family relationships and provide biblically grounded guidance through life's challenges.
Bible Correspondence & Study Course
A structured, self-paced Bible study course available to members and the wider public, covering foundational doctrine, biblical history, and practical Christian living, with personal follow-up from a ministry volunteer.
Youth Development Ministry
Weekly youth gatherings, mentorship pairings and holiday programmes that build character, biblical literacy and life skills among the young people of our congregation and community.
Elderly & Widows Care
Regular home visits, transport assistance and practical support for elderly members and widows in our community, ensuring that isolation and hardship do not go unnoticed.
Hospital & Home Visitation
Trained volunteers visit the sick, homebound and hospitalised members of our community to offer prayer, encouragement and practical assistance during difficult seasons.
Disaster & Emergency Relief Support
In coordination with local authorities and other civic organisations, we mobilise emergency assistance — blankets, food, and shelter support — for families affected by fire, flood or other crises in the Free State.

Every ministry above depends on volunteers who give their time and skills. If you would like to serve alongside our congregation, we would love to hear from you.

A seven-day period reflecting on putting sin out of our lives and pursuing sincerity and truth.
Commemorates the giving of the Holy Spirit and the beginning of the New Testament Church.
Points to significant future events surrounding the return of Jesus Christ.

Your generosity sustains our worship and our outreach.
Living Church of God SA is a registered non-profit organisation. Every gift is stewarded with transparency and care.
Biblical stewardship, practical impact
Scripture calls believers to give cheerfully and consistently — through tithes, offerings and acts of generosity that support both the worship life of the congregation and the practical needs of the community around us.
As a registered non-profit religious organisation, Living Church of God SA relies entirely on the giving of our members, supporters and well-wishers. There is no external corporate funding behind our work — every service we hold, every meal we distribute, and every family we support is made possible through the generosity of people who share our vision.
